Mr. James Leroy Boyer, 75, of Walnut Cove passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center surrounded by family and loved ones.

James was born on August 15, 1941 in Winston-Salem a son to the late James Robert Boyer and Ruby Leona Hedrick. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Jerry W. Boyer.

He was of the Baptist faith and retired from Rea Construction as a welder. James was a true outdoorsman that enjoyed spending time fishing, hunting, boating and...

Mr. James Leroy Boyer, 75, of Walnut Cove passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center surrounded by family and loved ones.

James was born on August 15, 1941 in Winston-Salem a son to the late James Robert Boyer and Ruby Leona Hedrick. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Jerry W. Boyer.

He was of the Baptist faith and retired from Rea Construction as a welder. James was a true outdoorsman that enjoyed spending time fishing, hunting, boating and the beach. He also loved flying his ultra-light airplane. James was a kind man that never met a stranger that was loved by many. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joyce Pettit Boyer of the home; two daughters, Joy Caudle and fiancé Darrell Durham of Germanton and Janice Boyer Boggs and husband, Christopher of Walnut Cove; two grandchildren, Justin Matthew Wolfe and Taylor Nicole Boggs and a great granddaughter Makenzie "KK" Carnall Wolfe; a sister Jane Calloway and husband, J.C. of Germanton; and his beloved dog that was loyal to him to the end "Princess."

A graveside service will be held 1PM, Saturday at Providence Moravian Church 829 Old Hollow Road, Winston-Salem, NC with Rev. Robert Peek, Sr. and Mr. Troy Poindexter officiating. The family will receive family and friends from 11 am to 12 noon Saturday at Frank Vogler and Sons Funeral Home Reynolda Chapel. Following the service the family will have a gather at the home of his daughter, Joy Caudle 3790 Stafford Mill Road, Germanton, NC.
